Conceptual Ventilation Design

GSE completed the conceptual ventilation design for Nina Plastics. The purpose of this design was to turn the printing area of this facility into a temporary total enclosure (TTE) in accordance with 40 CFR Part 51, “Procedure- T”.  This allows the production area to be placed under negative pressure of greater than 200 fpm inward velocity through a natural draft opening (NDO), meeting the distance requirement of the of the NDO to the exhaust points and satisfying the other criteria of “Procedure-T”.

This conceptual ventilation system was designed to be in accordance with Chapter 2 of the American conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienist, “Industrial Ventilation: A Manual of Recommended Practice”.  GSE included hoods over three of the presses to improve capture of the VOC and reduce exposure. The walls were an important part of the design since it decreases the area that needs to be placed under negative pressure.
