Due Diligence Services - Orlando
Preliminary Geo-technical Exploration
Ridge Development, Orlando, Florida
GSE assisted with a preliminary geotechnical exploration, and survey estimates for some planned warehouse buildings at the southern 60 acres of the 175 acre former U.S. Navy McCoy Base landfill site. GSE coordinated all of the due diligence studies, and prepared a letter report to summarize the conclusions.
GSE worked together with Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) to coordinate the preliminary geotechnical services for the proposed warehouse building areas of the site based on the conceptual site plan. While the preliminary results were suitable for estimating the order of magnitude of additional site work, foundations, and associated costs, it is not adequate for final design.
To augment the geotechnical exploration, GSE conducted a series of additional test pits, dug with a trackhoe, to further delineate the boundary of landfilled areas on the parking and building footprits.
Surveys of the south 60 acres were critical to the site design, permitting, and legal access. Although, there was an overall site topographic and boundary survey conducted, it was not to the level of detail that Ridge Development will need to complete the project.
GSE prepared a summary report with recommendations for options to deal with the landfill foundation issues in developed areas and estimated the costs associated with permitting actions required to deal with the landfill and surveys.
